Connecting Travelers to Sustainable Destinations & Ecotourism Activities.
This site is dedicated to acknowledging and sharing efforts made towards creating a healthy, balanced, sustainable world through ecotourism & eco travel.
EcoLogic LifeStyle shares stories of living an ecological lifestyle. Our primary focus is on sustainable tourism because it impacts all aspects of life on our planet. Since Travel & Tourism is one of the world’s largest and fastest growing industries, it could place great stress on the remaining biologically diverse habitats, on land & resource conservation, on global warming and on indigenous cultures.
Sustainable tourism offers an opportunity to improve, not only the bottom line for lodging owners, but also the local economy, all while serving as a role model for residents and other businesses.
We offer 3rd party ON SITE verification through the EcoExcellence Award with a Reviewed & Recommended directory listing, which are designed to promote the healthy, environmentally friendly, and overall sustainability commitments of ecotourism resorts, destinations, activities, lodging, restaurants and other businesses, along with cultural & social responsibility commitments. Look for our EcoExcellence AwardTOP 10 given to the TOP global performers. This award creates an ongoing higher benchmark, encouraging businesses to strive to be the best at sustainable best practices.
We will engage you by sharing our travel stories, hoping to give you an authentic flavor of a particular destination or business.
Our goal is to bring trustworthy, unbiased, transparent information, in a clean, simple format without advertising. We will gladly take sponsorships to offset the costs of sharing our research and insight, or work with public, private or non-profit sectors in creating Sustainable Destination programs. Please see our Support Us page for more information.

Cynthia Grier, serves as dedicated reviewer, writer and editor for EcoLogic LifeStyle. She is passionate about activities that stir the soul – travel… especially to wild, pristine locations… yoga, hiking, camping, writing, painting, photography and music.
Cynthia has been a proponent of environmental causes for many years, beginning with Environmental Studies courses in college. Coursework in Anthropology later prompted her to spend time traveling to many locales with a fascination for various cultures. She received her degree in Interior Environmental Design and began her career as an Interior Designer. Cynthia then spent 18 years as a Territory Manager/Specification Consultant for a variety of building materials and finishes, assisting architects, designers and contractors with design, technical, sustainability and environmental impact information. During that time, she built two new homes of her own with conventional building materials. She became very ill and it took a few years to determine that it was her homes, with their toxic finishes and materials, which were making her ill. By changing her environment and surrounding herself with natural and healthy alternatives, she has regained her health.
Cynthia is a Build It Green Certified Green Building Professional, a member of The International Ecotourism Society, the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), the Natural Building Network, and the Institute for Bau-Biologie and Ecology. She is currently studying for her Certification as a Bau-Biologie (Building Biology) Practitioner. Cynthia sits on the Ojai Valley Green Coalition – Built Environment Council where she has helped to design and assemble a mock green home in both the Ojai Valley Museum and the Community Services of Ventura County Green Center. She also serves as a judge for USGBC C4 chapter Green Awards, and as an Editorial Advisor for Natural Home Magazine.
In addition to working as a Reviewer for the EcoLogic LifeStyle ecoexcellence award Cynthia is currently active as a consultant to specifiers, business owners and home owners on eco healthy material selection & specification and space planning & design. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge through speaking/teaching engagements and researching, writing about and promoting eco healthy building and sustainability commitments of ecotourism resorts, destinations, lodging, restaurants and other businesses. Jon combines extensive training with state of the art testing equipment to find the solution to create your healthy, beautiful home or workplace. Each inspection includes a comprehensive written report with recommendations on how you can improve the health of your space and thereby the health of your family or employees. Jon can then recommend appropriate remediation techniques, equipment and professionals. Jon is also available for consultations, energy assessments and project management on any new building or remodeling project. His many years of experience and training in Building Biology & Building Science using healthy, sustainable, and natural building techniques are hard to find in the average building consultant, inspector or project manager. His expertise combines not only seeking out the problems but knowing how to successfully complete the solutions.
Bau-Biologie®, a philosophy that began in Germany, is a word used to describe a movement promoting the use of healthy building principles as a means to improve living and work spaces and the health of people who occupy them. Bau-Biologie® literally means, “Building Biology™.” Both terms are now used interchangeably and both have exactly the same definition – “how buildings impact life and the living environment.” For more information on Jon visit www.healthyecohome.com
